HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE WENDEL WERNER NEWSLETTER #101

Hello everyone!!

So, the truth of the matter is...I'm swamped today. So, you guys are great, I appreciate your support, here's the newsletter:

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2008
SHARON MOSBY AND THE WENDEL WERNER QUARTET
(featuring Terry Schmidt, Tim Paul, and Harold Nagge)
5:30PM-8PM
$6 FOR MEMBERS

This is the start of a huge weekend. First of all, most of you know that if you are planning on hearing Sharon this evening, you need to arrive early. You might have a hard time finding a seat by 6pm. After that performance, go home and get some sleep and prepare yourself for the concert the next night...

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2008
DON-AID 2008 (fundraiser for the HOPE FOR SUDAN organization)
TRINITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
7PM

Okay...so here's what happened. Don Thomas, the pastor at Trinity Methodist, was asked to go to Sudan for a couple of weeks in March to do some mission work. It will cost him about $5000 to do so. So, his wife contacted me and asked if I'd be interested in doing a benefit concert to help with the funds. I agreed and that started the ball rolling. As of now, some of the special guests we have at this concert are:

*Sheryl Howard (former Just In Time member, music director of several shows in the area, has

played with several symphonies in the area)

*Rachel Schlafer-Parton (former Just In Time member, member of Circle Modern Dance, has

played with several symphonies in the area)

*Aaron Stone (the star of several musical productions in East Tennessee, teacher of music at

Farragut Middle School)

*Sandra Porter (featured singer in a lot of my projects)

*Alan Eleazer (you ALL should know who he is)

*the Knoxville Jazz Youth Orchestra (yes...you read right)

Now....none of this includes the musical surprises we are planning that evening. THIS IS GOING TO BE A REALLY BIG DEAL!! Please bring your friends and your wallets and help us get Don to Africa so that he can serve a wonderful and meaningful cause.

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2008
SANDRA PORTER W/WENDEL WERNER
FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH
6PM

This is a performance that Sandra has been asked to that also includes a dinner. Should you be in the area, you should stop. Sandra always delivers.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2008
WALTERS STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE-WOMENS ENSEMBLE
WALTERS STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE-CONCERT CHOIR
CONCERT ON THE SEVIERVILLE CAMPUS
12:30PM

In honor of black history month, several choirs are descending upon the Walters State Sevierville campus to sing music having to do with black history. Three choirs from the Morristown campus will perform and two choirs from the Seveirville campus will sing as well. It ought to be a nice way to spend your lunch hour.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2008
THE UT SINGERS
FIRST FARRAGUT METHODIST CHURCH
DINNER AND PERFORMANCE STARTS AT 6PM
FREE

It is VERY rare that the UT Singers give a public performance. This semester, we have two of them and this is the first one. First Farragut is having a Valentine's dinner and the UT Singers will be the entertainment...and it is all free. If you have always wanted to see and hear what this group does, now is a good time to check them out.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2008
BALLET GLORIA BENEFIT CONCERT
PELLISSIPPI COMMUNITY COLLEGE
8PM
$12

Most of you know that the dance company known as Ballet Gloria has been very kind to me over the years. Well, this is my attempt at repay them. If you have ever enjoyed one of their performance, then be aware that it costs them a lot of money to put them on. It's always nice to have some funds to operate with...so I'm going to try to help with this. And speaking of help, not only will the company themselves do some dancing in the show...and not only will I have loads of singers joining me...but there WILL be an appearance by Alan Eleazer. Bring a date, friends, family...whoever. But please come and support Ballet Gloria and the work they do.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2008
FIRST FARRAGUT METHODIST CHURCH
11AM SERVICE

I've been asked to play for the service and do a song or two. Keep in mind that this is a few days after the UT Singers performance at this church. SO, if THEY don't sing well, the church MAY cancel MY performance. We'll see.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2008
GIBBS HIGH SCHOOL CHORAL CONCERT
7PM
$5

For some reason, the choral director, Leslie Graves, keeps hiring me to come and play for the choir. SO, i keep going. The music is always quite good and this will be no exception.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2008
FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH (in Morristown, Tn.)
8:30am

I've been asked to be a special guest at the contemporary service on this morning. Actually, I'm the ONLY musician at the contemporary service this morning. If you happen to be in the area, come and see what I do. Hopefully, by then, I will have decided.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2008
WENDEL WERNER CONCERT
MEMORIAL UNITED METHODIST (in Clinton, Tn.)
4pm
Free

After I've finished playing in Morristown, then I'll drive about an hour and half to Clinton. I played for a couple of services there in early December and the church was kind enough to immediately ask when I could be back. So, you should know...I was holding back when I was there before. My goal is to mess them up this time.

Hopefully I'll see you you sometime this month.

Thanks for your support.
