HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE WENDEL
WERNER NEWSLETTER #105
Hi everyone.
HELLO EVERYONE AND WELCOME TO THE WENDEL WERNER NEWSLETTER #105
I know a lot of you guys have contacted me saying, "Where was the June Newsletter?" I just sort of took a month off from the newsletter. I did some traveling and spent some time working on projects coming within the next few years. It's a little early to explain what those projects are, but trust me...when they come, I'll let you know. In the meantime, let's catch you up.
The tour of South Carolina with the Wanda Project went very well. Half way through the tour, we were already trying to figure out how we can work with each other again. We have tentatively put some dates down. We're now just trying to figure out the logistics...which are considerable. But you know I'll keep you informed.
Sax player Terry Schmidt and I just landed a gig in one of the premier places in Knoxville. It's a private club on top of the tallest building in downtown Knoxville called Club LeConte. Terry and I were initially hired to play on Friday nights through the month of June. Well, not only was that engagement extended through the month of July but, in an unprecedented move, Club LeConte has decided to open our performances to the public!!! So between now and the end of July (except for July 4th), Terry Schmidt and I will be playing Club LeConte from 6pm-8pm. If you are going to come, you should remember the following things:
*no children please
*the style of dress i dressy casual
*the club doesn't do cash. credit cards only.
*if you come, please eat something or drink something. (it wouldn't be cool for this to be open to our fans and then have come and NOT order anything.)
We'd love to see you there.
I'm also right in the middle of doing a LOT of choral compositions or arrangements. I just sent a piece to a church in Memphis and another piece to a college in Virginia. After that was a piece for a church here in Knoxville. Next up are three pieces being sent to a college in Orlando. I have three pieces to do for a college in Georgia, one for a choral society in Wartburg, Tn; a couple of high schools in Memphis, and this year's entire UT Singers show....I'm spending a lot of time in front of the computer during the rest of the summer. It's great for my creativity.
All this PLUS I'm teaching a class at Walters State Community College starting in July. Looks like a busy summer, huh?
Alright...let's do July:

THE "OUTDOOR SHOW"
performance sometime around noon
Okay...We came and did a performance at the "Outdoor Show" last year and it was so much fun. Plus, we were quite floored to be asked to come back this year THAT DAY!! So here we are.
The event is called "the Outdoor Show" because it's really impossible to say what else is going on. There are concerts, but it's part carnival, but it's also a crafts fair, but it's somewhat of a trade show, AND there's all kinds of food. It's sponsored by WECO, the local radio station. They've been very kind to us. So, i'm bringing some singers and we are coming back. If you are in the area just show up. (Everyone in the area knows where the "Outdoor Show" is...just ask.)

WENDEL WERNER CONCERT
WEARS VALLEY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
PIGEON FORGE, TN.
3PM
Busy day, huh? After the church service that morning, then we'll drive about an hour to Pigeon Forge. (home of DOLLYWOOD) The music director out at Wears Valley is a former student. It seems that she is trying to purchase a set of handbells for the church but doesn't have the budget for that. So, i offered to come and do a benefit concert to raise money for the handbells. This is that concert. (Although, I'm not sure the area is ready for how I'm going to try to hurt them. I plan to make this a concert they talk about for a long time.) If you would like to come, let me know. I'll get you directions.
