HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE WENDEL WERNER NEWSLETTER #107

Why are you getting a September newsletter when it's still August?? Because I'm THAT excited about the things I have going on next month. So excited that I'm going to skip through the usual banter and just get to the month. Watch.....

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2008
WENDEL WERNER CONCERT in SPRING CITY, TN.
ST. CLAIR BAPTIST CHURCH
6PM

I visited this church this past weekend and they were so much fun. I'll have this gifted singer named Villa Edwards with me. It will be our first time working together. This will my first time there, so I'm going try and not hurt them too much. (Some of you have seen the church concerts, so you know what I'm talking about. BUT...if this goes really well, and they want me back, I AM going to hurt them.) Hey...if you happen to be coming, come hungry. The church is having a dinner afterwards.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2008
SHARON MOSBY W/WENDEL WERNER AND TERRY SCHMIDT
EAST TENNESSEE JAZZ SOCIETY MEETING & CONCERT
MARYVILLE, TN.
SWANK'S (i THINK that's the name of the place.)
4PM

First of all, allow me to apologize if I have the name wrong of the venue. That's what it LOOKS LIKE in my calendar as we speak. Second of all, I know there is a fee for this event, but I'm not sure of what it is. (I can tell you what time we are showing up to load equipment, though.) The East Tennessee Jazz Society are VERY appreciative people. They are always GREAT fun to play for. (If I recall correctly, the last time I played for one of their events, it resulted in me getting a long time gig at a local club. So PLEASE...everybody come!!)

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 200
THE KNOXVILLE MUSEUM OF ART ALIVE AFTER FIVE CONCERT SERIES
SHARON MOSBY W/WENDEL WERNER, TERRY SCHMIDT, HAROLD NAGGE, DAVID SLACK, AND TIM PAUL
5:30PM-9:30PM
$10

Yes, you read the times correctly. This event will mark the 15th anniversary of the KMA's Alive After Five concert series. Hard to believe it's been that long. I think I have played at least once a year for the entire fifteen years. So, the KMA is having an opening act this year and then we'll come on around 7pm and play until 9:30pm. So it will be a full evening of great music. And...most of you know by now...if you are coming to hear Sharon at the KMA, come early. The 300+ seats go VERY quickly. We look forward to seeing you.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2008
MOON DOLLARS CAFE in OAK RIDGE, TN.
(the old DAILY GRIND)
7pm-10PM

I'M BACK IN OAK RIDGE!! I came back last month and not only was treated warmly ON MY WAY to the door, but the people of Oak Ridge were very supportive that night. It made the return quite a touching thing for me. AND...as a result...we booked me playing there once a month THROUGH APRIL 2009!!! So come and celebrate with us. It's always a ball of fun!

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2008
THE UT SINGERS at TRINITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
6:00PM

I'm going to start just planning on putting an event at Trinity UMC here on this newsletter every month. It seems there is something here every month!! This time, they are helping us start the new season of UT Singers' performances. You are welcome to stop by and see what the group has planned this year.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2008
FIRST UNITED METHODIST in COVINGTON, TN.
11AM

So, Eden Badgett is a former student of mine that is now the music director at this church just outside of Memphis, Tn. Well, it seems that on this day, the choir will be premiering an arrangement of mine. the piece is a choral arrangement of "Jesus Loves Me." So, I've made arrangements to be there. I'm really quite excited. My understanding is that Eden may not feel the same. (I'm kidding, Eden.)

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2008
WENDEL WERNER CONCERT in CROSSVILLE, TN.
(WENDEL PLAYING THE MUSIC OF FAMOUS PIANISTS IN THE HISTORY OF ROCK AND ROLL)
THE PALACE THEATRE
$10
7PM

I'M BACK IN CROSSVILLE!!! It feels like I live here because I'm always playing. It's a great thing. AND...a lot of the people that I bring to play here with me have said it's now their FAVORITE place to play. (I'm not making that up.)

So, the promoter of this concert got in touch with me months ago with this idea: me coming up and playing a concert of music by famous rock and roll pianists/keyboard players. Well, yeah....I jumped at this!! I have Abbe Andrews and Jessica Bolinger coming to sing with me and Melanie Howe playing percussion on the concert. I already have the music planned....you WILL be surprised!! I'm REALLY excited about this. It's like someone saying..."Wendel, would you like to do a concert of music you've been playing all your life????" I'M SO PUMPED ABOUT THIS!!!

Okay...I'm going back to composing.

I hope to see you at some of these events.

Thanks for your support.

None of these events would be listed here without you...I know this.
