HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE WENDEL
WERNER NEWSLETTER #114
Hello, everyone. Happy month of May and Happy Mother's Day to everyone. The fact
that I'm writing to you means that I've finished the semester at both colleges.
I thought that day would never come. even so, it STILL took eight days for me to
get to a point where I had time to send out the newsletter for the month. So,
I'll quite yapping and get to it.

WENDEL WERNER AND THE HOUSE BAND in CROSSVILLE, TN.
CUMBERLAND COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS
RELAY FOR LIFE EVENT
7PM
FREE
The blues band will descend upon the city of Crossville. Our goal is to see to
it that Crossville doesn't recover for at least a week. This is a 24 hour event,
but we are kicking off the entertainment. I know that there are House Band fans
in the Crossville area. You guys are the reason we play the area as often as we
do. We'll be expecting to see you guys.

WENDEL WERNER, JEFF KILE, and ALAN ELEAZER
MOONDOLLARS CAFE in OAK RIDGE, TN.
7PM-10PM
$5
So, the first time the three of us played Moondollars, the place was packed. It
was kind of a big deal to us given the fact that the three of us had known each
other for over 20 years but had never done a gig as just the three of us before.
And now...here is gig number two!! We are expecting a big crowd. You may want to
call Moondollars with your reservation.
MONDAY-SATURDAY, MAY 11-16, 2009
THE WANDA PROJECT TOUR
SOUTH CAROLINA TOUR
Some of you are aware that my sister, Wanda, has her own dance company which is
based in South Carolina. Ocassionally, we get the chance to work together. This
will be one of those times. There will be at least one performance somewhere in
the state every day. In some cases, there are three performances in a day. So,
we will be working hard.

THE SUSHI SPOT in POWELL, TN.
6:30pm-9:30pm
FREE
Here we are again! Just in case you missed the first time.
Okay...last month I ended the newsletter with: "I'm going to have some VERY
exciting news to bring to you in the next newsletter." I've been blown away with
how many people have mentioned this to me. Well, here's the news:
I'm getting married.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA....okay. that's
NOT the news.
HERE's the news:
Moondollars Cafe has agrred to let me record my next album LIVE at Moondollars.
BUT....they've decided to let me take the entire week to do so!! Here's what is
going to happen...
During the week of June 22, I'll be at Moondollars EVERY NIGHT from 7pm until
around 9pm. We will be recording each night. (which means we'll need an audience
each night, please.) And each night will be a different type of music...so you
won't hear the same music all week long. Here's how it will break down:
mon june 22 - SOLO OR SMALL GROUP (VOCAL) NIGHT
if you have ever heard me perform with a singer or a small group of singers in
which they did pieces of mine, hopefully this is what you will hear on this
night.
tue june 23 - SOLO OR SMALL ENSEMBLE (INSTRUMENTAL) NIGHT
this will be the same thing as monday night, just with instruments instead of
singers.
wed june 24 - SOLO JAZZ PIANO NIGHT
just me. no singing. just playing stuff.
thu june 25 - GOSPEL NIGHT
anytime you have seen me perform in a church with a large group of
singers...THAT'S what you'll see tonight. i'll have at least 10 singers with me.
fri june 26 - BLUES NIGHT
if you have ever seen any of the performances by Wendel Werner and the House
Band, then that's what you'll be getting on this evening. now, the house band
has like a thousand people in it. i don't know that i can get them all in the
place. but i will try to get as many as possible.
sat june 27 - the usual wendel show you get on a saturday night
and you know what this looks like.
My goal is get make AT LEAST one recording out of all this. But if one of the
nights goes particularly well, then I might have MORE THAN ONE cd out the week.
(Moondollars has already started calling it WENDEL WEEK. They are planning on
having t-shirts. Seriously.)
I think that news alone would be exciting enough. BUT...I'm not done. The NEXT
week, I'll spend the first three days making a jazz trio recording with drummer
Tim Paul and bassist Dave Slack. We've been discussing this for at least three
or four years. This would be a completely separate recording.
And sorry...you're not allowed at that one.
Okay...it's time for me to fly. It has dawned on me that I'm six newsletters
away from number 120. That will mean I've been sending the newsletter out for
ten years.
That could not be done without you.
Thank you,
Wendel Werner
