NEWSLETTER #120
by Wendel Werner

HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE WENDEL WERNER NEWSLETTER #120

So, let me start right off the bat by saying "thank you." I have reached newsletter number 120. They started with me mailing them all (and having Cassie next door help me.) Now I have no idea how many people get the newsletter because so many of you forward it to others. But it's because of you, that I've had a reason to send out a monthly newsletter for TEN YEARS!! That really means a lot.

Thank you.

Here's the month of November:

FRIDAY OCTOBER 30, 2009
THE PREMIERE OF: THE WENDEL BAND
WENDEL WERNER, KATY FREE, JENNA LICKLITER, DANIELLE MADISON, and OLGA POWERS.
THE LAUREL MOUNTAIN EATERY - DOWNTOWN KNOXVILLE
7pm-10pm
cover charge - $5

I think I've put together a new group of people that you might like. We'll be premiering the group on this evening.

The Laurel Mountain Eatery is in Downtown Knoxville directly across form the Bijou. (NO...not the First Tennessee Building. DIAGONALLY across the street.) The food is GREAT, so you have to eat while you are there.

I think you will really enjoy this group. But all these ladies have lots of friends. If you want to sit, you may want to arrive at least by 6:30pm.

There will be a $5 cover. Now we've talked about this...don't come if you aren't planning on paying.

THIS IS ONE OF THE PERFORMANCES THIS MONTH THAT YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS. You know I don't say that all the time.

SATURDAY OCTOBER 31, 2009
THE WENDEL BAND at MOONDOLLARS CAFE in OLIVER SPRINGS, TN.
8PM-10PM
$5-COVER CHARGE

Moondollars cafe has re-opened in Oliver Springs and we are there on Halloween.since I last talked to you. My first time in the new space will be on Halloween. This means we have to dress up as someone else. Therefore, the last 45 minutes of the performance will have us pretending we are Billy Joel as we perform his famous album "The Stranger" in its entirety.

We've changed some of the arrangements, though. You should drive to Oliver Springs to see what we've done to it.

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 8, 2009
THE UT PRESBYTERIAN CENTER
7PM
Kally, the pastor, asked me about coming out and performing a few songs during one of their evening services. So, I'm bringing some of the ladies from the Wendel Band and we are going to do some sacred things. Hopefully, we'll be inspiring. That would be good since Kally is talking about having us do a performance every semester.

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 13, 2009
KATY FREE w/wendel werner
LAUREL MOUNTAIN EATERY
7PM-10PM
$5 COVER

Several of you have heard me play when Katy Free was singing. So you should have an idea of how good she is. Well, if you aren't sure, then come and check out her gig. She will have Danielle Madison and Kolt Free as special guests.

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 14, 2009
THE WENDEL BAND feat: KATY FREE, JENNA LICKLITER, DANIELLE MADISON and OLGA POWERS
MOONDOLLARS CAFE in OLIVER SPRINGS, TN.
8PM-10PM
$5

This is the first of two times that we are playing Moondollars this month. We plan for about half of the music to be different. So, YOU should come to BOTH performances.

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 17, 2009
THE UT SINGERS IN CONCERT
UT MUSIC HALL
8PM
FREE

Most of the time, the UT Singers' performances are private gigs. AND when we DO have a public peformance, it's at the end of the year. Most people don't get a chance to see how much the group has learned throughout the course of a year. This year is different. Should you come on this night...and you SHOULD...you'll be able to witness how much MORE music we've added to our concert at the end of the year.

We are quite excited about this upcoming concert. You might have to fight the singers' families for the best seats.

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 21, 2009
DANIELLE MADISON w/wendel werner
REMEDY CAFE in the Old City
7pm (I think)

Many of you remember Danielle as the high school freak of nature that we had in the group known as Just In Time a few years ago. She has returned home from college and wasted no time getting out there and working. She's in the Wendel Band, she's teaching lessons in a local studio, she is singing professionally at Second Presbyterian Church, and now she has THIS gig. Want to know what the big fuss is all about? Then come find us in the Old City.

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 27, 2009
SHARON MOSBY w/James Pippin, Tim Paul, Harold Nagge,
Wendel Werner, Terry Schmidt, AND ERIK WERNER on bass
KNOXVILLE MUSUEM OF ART ALIVE AFTER FIVE CONCERT SERIES
5:30PM-8PM
$4 STUDENTS/$8 PUBLIC

First of all, if you want a seat, you have to be there when the doors open at 5pm.

Second, it's always a party when Sharon is on the stage. On top of that we have Tim Paul on drums, the great James Pippin on percussion, the genuis of Harold Nagge on guitar, and of course THE Terry Schmidt on saxophone. This time around, we are lucky enough to have my brother Erik playing bass. YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS.

But you DO want to be there early.

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 28, 2009
THE WENDEL BAND feat: KATY FREE, JENNA LICKLITER, DANIELLE MADISON and OLGA POWERS
MOONDOLLARS CAFE in OLIVER SPRINGS, TN.
8PM-10PM
$5

This is the second of two times that we are playing Moondollars this month. We plan for about half of the music to be different. So, YOU should come to BOTH performances.

Okay...some other things to inform you about:

*The jazz piano trio album by Tim Paul, Dave Slack, and myself called "Nothing Personal" is almost ready. You'll be informed of where you can go to get it. Or...you can look me up currently on facebook and make sure that we are friends.

*The annual WENDEL-DESTROYS-ALL-CHRISTMAS-SONGS concert is at Trinity United Methodist Church again this year. It will be on Friday December 11 at 7pm. You'll be able to keep up with the concert on my facebook page.

*And within the next month we will see the release of my new recording "Live at Moondollars Cafe Vol. I." Again, there should currently be a facebook page that will keep everyone up to date.

Thank you for the last 10 years.

Wendel
