NEWSLETTER #122
by Wendel Werner

HELLO EVERYONE AND WELCOME TO THE WENDEL WERNER NEWSLETTER#122

Yes, I know...I start off the new year with a late newsletter. But that's not because I was being lazy. It's because I've been covered up in getting a few things in order. LIKE WHAT...you ask??

"NOTHING PERSONAL." That's the title of the jazz piano trio recording I've done with drummer Tim Paul and bassist Dave Slack. It is going to be released on Saturday January 23, 2010 at Bill Jones Music on Kingston Pike here in Knoxville, Tn. Word is that the celebration concert we are giving that night, which includes guest appearances by Terry Schmidt and Sharon Mosby, is ALREADY the biggest attended concert that Bill Jones Music has ever done...and it hasn't happened yet. There will be a reception after the concert catered by the wonderful people that used to operate Moondollars Cafe.

The kind people at Bill Jones Music prefer that you call Tina, their marketing manager at (865)690-64665 or e-mail her at tina@billjonesmusic.com to make reservations. It helps them to know how many people to prepare for. Either way this coming Saturday is January 23, 2010 and we are releasing the "Nothing Personal" album at 7pm. You are welcome to come.

Third...it's the Christmas season. That means it's time for the "Wendel-Destroys-All-Christmas-Songs" Concert. This year's concert is on Friday December 11 at 7:30pm. Again, Trinity United Methodist has opened up their church for me to have this concert. And, like usual, the concert comes with a warning: IF YOU LIKE YOUR CHRISTMAS MUSIC DONE TRADITIONALLY, THEN DO NOT COME. You WILL NOT hear a single holiday song done in it's traditional form. I think that's a fair warning. This year, we are asking everyone to help with the Hand up for Women organization. This is an organization that helps women that areon the street and gives them to tools to be able to work and gain independence. What these women need are gift cards...to anywhere. The organization will then pass them out to the clients that fits the needs of the given card. Anything like this that can be donated would be greatly appreciated.

One more item. I was informed a few weeks ago that the website known as www.mainlypiano.com listed my "One Sitting" album as one of the top 40 albums of the decade. You can't know how honored I was to learn this especially after seeing some of the other names on the list. I'm quite flattered.

And now, the month of January...

My sister's dance company is giving a concert in Charlotte and I've been asked to come up and perform as well IN ADDITION TO providing music for her dancers. It's going to be a fun concert and I hear there will be a "Question and Answer" period afterwards with my sister and me. THAT part may be worth the entire trip. Come see us.

Okay, if you haven't seen this band yet...YOU NEED TO DO SO!! It's a lot of fun to work with these ladies. It's one of those performances in which we have more fun than you do...and that's saying something. YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS!!

SUNDAY JANUARY 31, 2009
THE HAND UP FOR WOMEN CONCERT II
TRINITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
6pm
For those of you that attended the first in this concert series, you know you want to be there. For those that did not, the Hand Up for Women Concert series was put together as a way of raising money and awareness for an organization that takes women living on the street and teaches them skills that allows them to return to the workplace. I am on the board of directors and I agreed to do a series of concert to help out. I will have about 40 musicians and singers with me on this concert. It's going to move you. Seriously...it's going to move you. If there's anyway possible, you should be there.

Alright...I'm going to rest now and get ready for the latter half of this month.
Hopefully, I will see you at one of these functions.
As usual, thank you for your support. season.
