NEWSLETTER #80
by Wendel Werner
HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE WENDEL WERNER NEWSLETTER #80
Well, I started off the last newsletter by saying "Happy
April!!" May
is little harder. Happy it's here, but it's going to be a little busy.
You'll understand later in the newsletter. First, let me make a couple of
announcements:
THE NEW ALBUM BY ALAN ELEAZER AND WENDEL WERNER, "OLD WINE-NEW
SKINS," WILL BE RELEASED ON THURSDAY, JUNE 1ST. There will be a release
party/concert on June 1st at 7:30pm Concord United Methodist Church. The
concert is free and everyone is invited. We are hoping for a large crowd.
The album is made of numerous hymns that have all been changed around. None
of the hymns will sound like you are used to hearing them. Alan and I will
spend the month performing this music in numerous places and cities out of
town, so we will be ready for you on June 1st. Please come and check out
what we've done. We're quite proud.
The next announcement: I will be going into the recording studio at
the end of the month to record my next solo recording. I still don't have a
title I'm comfortable with yet. I have some ideas, but I want to wait and
see how things turn out in the studio. That could affect my decision. Either
way, the album is to be released in mid-August.
On to the month of May....
WEDNESDAY, MAY 3, 2007
CHA CHA'S in Homberg Place
7PM-10PM
I am now playing in Cha Cha's every Wednesday night. It seems to be
going quite well. Thanks to those that have come to hear me. Thanks to new
fans I have aquired during my first month there. If you haven't come
yet...what are you waiting for?
THURSDAY, MAY 4, 2007
BEARDEN HIGH SCHOOL CHORAL CONCERT
7PM
Now, make sure you read this correctly...I WON'T BE THERE. I'm
playing a private function on this night. BUT two arrangements of mine will
be performed by the choral groups of Bearden High School at this concert.
SO, if you like, you can go and then tell me how it went.
FRIDAY, MAY 5, 2007
LAWSON-McGHEE LIBRARY
6PM-8:30PM
On the first Friday of every month, the downtown library opens its
doors to a free Wendel concert complete with complimentary wine and food.
AND...they give me carte blanche to do whatever I want. That's
right...whatever I want. It means I can't be contained. Now, would you
really want to miss that?
SUNDAY, MAY 7, 2007
GIBBS HIGH SCHOOL CHORAL CONCERT
3PM
I have gotten to know the kids out of Gibbs High School really well
because I work as the choral department's accompanist. Therefore, it would
be a little difficult for them to have a concert without me. This concert is
going to be made up of mostly pop music. The kids are having lots of fun
with it. I think you will as well.
TUESDAY, MAY 9, 2007
SHARON MOSBY W/WENDEL WERNER AND TERRY SCHMIDT
MORRISTOWN, TN.
6PM
A lot of you know that I teach at Walters State Community College in
Morristown, Tn. as well as the University of Tennessee. This night is a
function to celebrate the year that the music department has had. Sharon
always brings a night of great fun and everyone knows that Terry is the
man!!!
WEDNESDAY, MAY 10, 2007
CHA CHA'S in Homberg Place
7PM-10PM
I am hoping that those that DIDN'T come to hear me the previous week
will be coming on this night.
THURSDAY, MAY 11, 2007
OAK RIDGE HIGH SCHOOL CHORAL CONCERT
7PM
JAREDS on Morrell Rd.
4:30PM-8:30PM
Yes...you have two choices this night. Again, at the choral
concert, I won't be there. BUT they ARE premiering an original piece of mine
at their concert. I will be playing at Jared's, the top shelf jewelry store.
Every once in while, they have a big function drawing attention to the
pieces they have in their for you to purchase. They make a big deal out of
it and I guess that's where I come in. SO, you can come purchase a diamond
ring OR you can go hear the piece I composed and then tell me how it went.

OAK RIDGE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
ALTERNATIVE SERVICE
7PM
(THE CHOIR REHEARSAL IS AT 4PM!!!)
So, Oak Ridge Presbyterian gets in touch with me. Every four months
or so, they have an "alternative srvice" that kind of strays away from the
traditional format and has a heavy emphasis on music. They asked if I'd be
interested in being in charge of all the music for THIS particular service.
Okay...here's where you..the reader...comes in:
I ASKED IF I COULD PUT TOGETHER A CHOIR AND WAS TOLD THAT WOULD BE
FINE!! Not only was I given the impression that members of the church would
want to be in this choir, but I was also told that it would be okay if
ANYONE ELSE I KNEW TO BE IN THE CHOIR AS WELL. That's right...if you are
reading this and you have the afternoon and evening free, AND WANT TO SING
STUFF THAT I'VE ARRANGED OR COMPOSED then show up at the church at 4pm. I
think the service is going to start around 7pm, maybe 7:30pm. I would really
like to blow the church away with the music. I would really like you to be a
part of that. E-mail me if you have any questions. Otherwise, I'll see you
there.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 24, 2007
CHA CHA'S in Homberg Place
7PM-10PM
That's three times this month. You really don't have a good excuse
for not coming.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 31, 2007
CHA CHA'S in Homberg Place
7PM-10PM
Sorry....FOUR times this month!!
THURSDAY, JUNE 1ST, 2007

Not only can you purchase cds from the website, but you can also purchase
choral arrangments and sheet music from the "loss" album. All that is
waiting for you...as well as the addition of new pictures to the photo
gallery sometime this month.
As always, thanks for your support.
