NEWSLETTER #81
by Wendel Werner
HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE WENDEL WERNER NEWSLETTER #81
Well, there is quite a bit to discuss in this newsletter this month.
Before I get to the new stuff, let me thank everyone involved in making this
year's Alan Eleazer/Wendel Werner tour a success. It's been five years and
this was our biggest tour yet. We even went back to places and cities that
we hadn't played in years and we were treated liked we had never left. That
was very humbling. SO, thanks to all those people and hopefully we'll see
you next year.
Now, it seems I'm starting off with some bad news. It seems the
Lawson-Mghee Library has decided not to have me play anymore on the first
friday of every month. The library wants to go in a different direction with
their musical performances. SO..the upcoming performance on June 2nd will be
my last one there. Thanks to the people at the library for allowing me to
perform there as long as I did and thanks to all the people that came a
supported me there. You can check here for updates as to where I might be
playing on a regular basis.
On the happier news, THE NEW ALBUM BY ALAN ELEAZER AND WENDEL WERNER,
"OLD WINE-NEW SKINS," WILL BE RELEASED ON THURSDAY, JUNE 1ST. The release
party/concert is June 1st at 7:30pm Concord United Methodist Church. The
concert is free so you have no excuses. The album is made of hymns that have
all been Alan and Wendelized. None of the hymns will sound like you are used
to hearing them. We will be looking for you on June 1st. Please come and
enjoy the free concert.
Starting on Tuesday, June 13, I will be teaching/directing a class at
Walters State in Morristown, Tn. The class will be a female vocal jazz
ensemble. We will spend every Tuesday evening of the next 9 weeks rehearsing
and preparing music for a performance at the end of the summer semester. If
you are interested, Please contact WALTERS STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE. Keep in
mind that you can't take this for free. You'll be signing up for a class,
but the class will be available to everyone...as long as you are female.
By the time you read this, I will have finished recording my next
solo recording, entitled "One Sitting." We are still looking at a mid-August
release with a tour to follow starting in Columbia, South Carolina on August
11. This tour will take me through Louisville, Greensboro, Baltimore, a
couple of places in Maine, Philadelphia, and end up in Michigan.
And now, the month of June....
