NEWSLETTER #82
by Wendel Werner

HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE WENDEL WERNER NEWSLETTER #82

Hello, everyone.
First let me thank everyone involved in the Alan Eleazer/Wendel
Werner that ended last month. It had been almost two years since we had been
out on a tour that long. It was very flattering that we received so well.
Thanks, as well, to everyone that attened the release party/concert in
celebration of our new recording "Old Wine, New Skins." Alan and I were both
blown away by the number of people at the concert.

Speaking of new recordings, I am happy to announce that I am finished
with recording my next solo project, entitled "One Sitting." I am a litt le
hesitant in announcing the date for the release party because all the
factors are not in place yet. SO...let me say..oh, forget it. I'll announce
the date and if it turns out that it changes, that info will be in the next
newsletter. The release date I'm shooting for is Wendesday, August 9th. More
details will be in the next newsletter...but for now:
THE NEW WENDEL WERNER RECORDING, "ONE SITTING," WILL BE RELEASED WEDNESDAY,
AUGUST 9, 2007.

I spent a large part of June composing and arranging loads of choral
pieces. I was quite humbled that FOUR high school choral groups in the East
Tennessee area did pieces of mine last year as well as a college group out
of Virginia. Already this year, I've been asked for music from five high
schools in East Tennesee, a high school in Chicago, and a college in
Virginia. All this in addition to the music I've arranged for the new season
of the UT Singers, the University of Tennessee's jazz choir and a piece I've
composed for the women's choir of Walters State Community College, another
group I'll be directing this year. I've spent A LOT of time in front of the
computer this month.

One other thing, I was recently informed that my proposal was
accepted to present a session on jazz choirs at the national convention of
the College Music Society, San Antonio, this September. I'm very excited
about it. You all can come with me, if you like.

And now, the month of July....

CHA CHA'S in Homberg Place
7PM-10PM

The owners of Cha Cha's have recently sat down with me to tell me
how pleased they are with what I've been doing there. While that is
flattering, I know that a lot of that is due to the fact that many of you
have come down to see me, some on a weekly basis. There hasn't been a week
that I've been there where there wasn't at least three tables of people
there because I was there. I can't thank you enough for that. AND....I hope
it continues throughout this month. You'll have plenty of chances.....
