NEWSLETTER #85
by Wendel Werner
HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE WENDEL
WERNER NEWSLETTER #85
OKAY, OKAY, OKAY....I know. I was telling someone a few days ago that
whenever the newsletter is late, it always seems to be the first thing
people say when they say me. "How are we supposed to know where you are if
we don't have the newsletter?" Absolutely correct. So..here it is with my
apologies. BUT, before I get to the dates, I have much to tell you about.
Hopefully you'll understand why the newsletter is a little behind this time.
Let's start with this: I'm thrilled to announce that Cha Cha's has
said they want me to stay on and play Wednesday nights throughout 2007. A
lot of that has to do with that many of you that have come down to hear me.
Thanks to all of you. You'll know where to find me on Wednesdays.
The River Tree Center for the Arts in Kennebunk, Maine has put
tog ether a video to show off all the arts related things they do. I'm proud
and flattered to announce that "Concord," a composition of mine from the
"One Sitting" album, accompanies the entire promotional video. I was blown
away when they contacted me asking for permission.
Speaking of the "One Sitting" album, thanks to all of those that
came to the release party. It was a huge night. I'm thrilled to inform all
of you that, since the last newsletter, I have received a wonderful review
of the "Loss" album in the Knoxville News-Sentinel, I have received a very
kind review in the Metro Pulse of the "One Sitting" album, and just this
week I was informed that the review of the "One Sitting" album by the Solo
Piano Publications website starts off with the sentence: "I think I've found
my favorite album of 2007." To make things even more exciting, it looks like
that reviw has lead to a performance in the San Francisco area during one of
the solo tours I'll be doing this summer.
That's right....It's beginning to look like there will be TWO legs
of a tour this summer. 2-3 weeks in the latter part of June that will take
me out to California and back. Then there will be a couple of weeks in the
middle of August that take me up to the Northeast. As the dates get figured
out, you'll be informed. But should you have suggestions as to places to
play, please don't hesitate to let me know.
While we are on the subject of letting me know things....I'm
beginning to think that some of you have been trying to order cds or
arrangements online through the website but have been having trouble. If
htis is the case, would you please e-mail me directly at:
wendelwerner@hotmail.com
I'll be glad to fix the problem personally. It will also give me an
idea of how much of a problem I'm dealing with concerning ordering things
online.
I have been floored by the fact that, a s of right now, three high
schools and one church in the U.S. are doing arrangements or compositions of
mine on their fall concerts. I've learned that three colleges and two high
schools in the U.S. are doing things of mine for their Christmas concerts.
For the spring, in addition to a high school that is doing FOUR of my
arrangements, a church in the Knoxville area, Fountain City United
Methodist, will be premiering a cantata of mine for their Good Friday
service called "Words Of Christ." What an exciting time!!
One last thing before we get to the October dates...I'm in the
process of scheduling a monthly concert series. One concert per month in a
local church...each concert will be different music. Some concerts will be
just me, some concerts will be me with the church's choir, some concerts
will be me with the people who sing with the church's contemporary service.
We have concerts scheduled up thorugh May. If you are inter ested in a
concert, please get in touch with me. I'd like these concerts to continue
throughout the entire year.
And now the month of October:
