NEWSLETTER #90
by Wendel Werner

HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE WENDEL WERNER NEWSLETTER #90

I would like to start off this newsletter by announcing a couple of things that
has happened since the last newsletter. I'm really quite proud of these two
things. BUT, before I mention those things, I'd like to let you know that I will
be going into the recording studio this month to record the as-yet-untitled new
album of spiritual material. It SHOULD be all recorded by the time you get the
next newsletter. Now, for those two exciting things:

I was extremely flattered a year ago to be informed that the online magazine
known as Solo Piano Publicatio ns had named my "Loss" album one of the top 10
albums of 2005. Well, they got in touch with me during the past month to inform
me that the "One Sitting" album was named one of the top 10 albums of 2007.
TWICE IN A ROW!!! I was VERY excited to learn this.

During the past month, I was also asked to be one of two
"Composers-In-Residence" at Randolph-Macon Woman's College, in Lynchburg,
Virginia, for the 2007-08 school year. The appointment means that I have been
commissioned to compose a piece for the college's Concert Choir, stay on the
campus for a week while working with the choir on the piece, and be present for
the premiere. The college and I have also agreed that I will do several
compositions and arrangements for their 6-member women's jazz choir. The jazz
choir will then record a CD of all those pieces while I am in-residence for the
week. I am extremely flattered by the offer.

BUT...all that IS next year.
In the meantime, here's the month of March:

FRIDAY, MARCH 2, 2007
FOX DEN COUNTRY CLUB
7PM-10PM

This is the last of my currently scheduled dates playing for the members of Fox
Den's Country Club. I'm told that my month there has gone very well. There has
been a lot of discussion about me coming back. I'll keep you informed.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 7, 2007
CHA CHA'S in Homberg Place

Some of you know that Cha Cha's has art work on the walls that stays up for
about a month or so. Well, this month there are drawings by local artist Karen
Brackett. AND...one the pieces is a drawing of me. So, if you come this month,
not only would you HEAR me and WATCH me, but you could also look at the drawing
as well. (That MAY be too much Wendel for you.)

WENDEL WERNER with special guest MELANIE HOWE
CHA CHA'S in Homberg Place

Some of you may have been in Cha Cha's last month when I snuck Melanie in
without telling anyone ahead of time. She is a fantastic percussion player. She
only brought one instrument last time, but I'm thinking about asking her to
bring a lot of stuff this time. It ought to be really cool!!

THE PALACE THEATRE in Crossville, Tn.

For the month of July, the Palace Theatre has been having a Sunday afternoon
jazz conc ert series. It's a fundraising effort for an organization within the
school system there in Crossville. I believe I'm closing the series. I'm
bringing some pretty cool special guests. I've always been blown away with the
support I have received in Crossville. The city always comes out to hear me. I
look forward to seeing all of you again.
