NEWSLETTER #96
by Wendel Werner
HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE WENDEL
WERNER NEWSLETTER #96
Well, if there was ever a sign that the busy time of year has started, it will
be this newsletter. Before I give you the run down for this month, I have some
exciting announcements.
Every year, people come and ask me if I'm playing anywhere on New Year's Eve.
Well, here you go...
SHARON MOSBY AND THE WENDEL WERNER QUARTET
KNOXVILLE MUSEUM OF ART
DECEMBER 31, 2007
9PM-10PM
We are opening up for Zac Harmon, a blues musician from Mississippi. You know
how much we love playing the KMA, it might be a cool way to bring the new year.
Thanks to those of you that have purchased the "Spiritual" album from the
website. I think this has gone a lot easier than the issues some of you have had
in the past. Again, for those that don't know, go to www.wendelwerner.com
<http://www.wendelwerner.com/> and on the home page, in the upper right corner,
you'll see a picture of the album cover. Click on that and you will taken to
cdbaby.com where you can easily order the cd.
Okay...we have a lot to talk about so, here's September:
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2007
CHA CHA'S (in Homberg Place)
7PM-10PM
FREE
WOW...when I decided to take the summer off from playing Cha Cha's, who knew it
would cause this much trouble. Everywhere I've gone, people have asked when I'm
coming back. I was in the place a few weeks ago and literally FIVE people asked
within a two hour time span. Well....here it is. I return to Wednesday nights at
Cha Cha's starting this night. So, if you've missed me, then come and tell me
personally!!!
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2007
CHA CHA'S (in Homberg Place)
7pm-10pm
FREE
This is in case you couldn't come the previous week. And, in case those first
two weeks are bad for you...
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2007
CHA CHA'S (in Homberg Place)
7pm-10pm
FREE
I'm back...I'm not going to tell you again!!
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 21
SHARON MOSBY AND THE WENDEL WERNER QUINTET
(Terry Schmidt, Tim Paul, Dave Slack, and Harold Nagge)
THE BROKER
8pm-11pm
$10 cover
Thanks to those that came to our show last month. For those that didn't, I'm
going to put down what I wrote last month about the Broker:
"Several of you have asked about this place. PLEASE GIVE THIS VENUE A CHANCE!!
The Broker is a new place that has opened in Knoxville, 3434 Martin Luther King
Blvd. The snacks they serve are free. There is no smoking. Th ey ask that you
dress nice when you come. They prefer that you listen to the music instead of
talk OVER the music. HOW MANY PLACES IN KNOXVILLE ASK FOR ALL THOSE THINGS?
Those of us in the band LOVE this venue. We want you to love it, too...but that
means you have to come. The cover charge is a little higher than you may be used
to seeing. It IS $10...but that is solely to make sure the band is paid. That
money goes directly to us.
I'll even give you directions: You take magnolia going east (AWAY from downtown)
until you get to MARY st. on your right. (right before chilhowee park) Take MARY
until you get to Martin Luther King and then take left. THE BROKER WILL BE ON
YOUR RIGHT.
Again, this is a real nice place that doesn't get the attention it deserves.
PLEASE come and see us. We'll see to it that you have a good time."
Now, peo ple that came last time went on and on about how nice it was and how
cool it was that it was pretty quiet in there. But, no matter how much we love
this place, if you don't come and support us we won't play there anymore. PLEASE
come and see us. You know me, I wouldn't say all this if it wasn't worth your
while.

WENDEL WERNER CONCERT
GREYSTONE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

The last time I did a concert here, we all had a great time. I'm planning on
putting some things in place to make this concert even a bigger event. The
church is on Woodlawn just off of Chapman Highway, on the left. If you saw the
last concert here...it won't be anything like THAT. BIGGER. Trust me.

would we play here throughout the rest of 2007, but after September, we'll be

A RARE WENDEL WERNER BLUES CONCERT
CROSSVILLE, TN.
THE PALACE THEATRE
8PM
$10
OH...i'M GOING TO TALK ABOUT THIS SO MUCH IN THE NEXT NEWSLETTER THAT I'M
STARTING NOW!! I don't get asked to do blues concerts often, so when I AM asked,
I make sure you remember. As it stands right now, I have EIGHT people playing
with me. It has been a few months since I was last in Crossville...but in all
the times I've played the area, I've never come in with this kind of mind set
before. I plan on doing some damage. (I hear the venue has a new piano...that's
too bad.)
Well, we are four away from 100 newsletters. Simply and humbly, thank you very
much.
